Derby

Though the one pictured is not the typical color, this is a classic Derby.  It is similar to a Bowler, but has a shorter, stockier crown.  The binding on this Derby is a standard wide width ribbon, but historically, Derbys and Top Hats had a reversed binding.  The Reversed Binding, has more of the ribbon showing on the under side of the brim, which gives it a wider appearance on the outside of the rolled brims.  It is also much more work, due to the handwork to fix the shorter side to the top of the brim, hence the higher price. NOTICE: ALL OF THE HATS, AND MOST OF THE HATBANDS, ARE CUSTOM MADE AND WILL TAKE 2 TO 3 WEEKS TO MAKE.
